Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I am doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
— Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ. Currently, there are two views:
- Jesus was God incarnate and He performed miracles.
- Jesus was a man and his miracles were delusions.
There’s a third possibility:
- Jesus was a man and he performed miracles.
Ponder … Mark 6: 4-6 The Rejection at Nazareth
[4] Then Jesus told them, “A prophet is without honor only in his hometown, among his relatives, and in his own household.” [5] So He could not perform any miracles there, except to lay His hands on a few of the sick and heal them. [6] And He was amazed at their unbelief …
God can’t perform miracles in Nazareth? And He can be amazed?
Could Jesus Christ have been a faith-healer, albeit, the most potent in history? If you could do what he did, you, too, might think you’re the son of God. Many saints performed miracles, too. See List.
Speculation: Suppose consciousness & matter have a relationship akin to electricity & magnetism. Electricity may exist independently of magnetism, and magnetism may exist independently of electricity. However, magnetism may be used to generate electricity, and electricity may be used to generate magnetism. Combined, they may generate each other as an electromagnetic waves, which have a kind of immortality. Now, we know that matter properly organized can generate consciousness. May consciousness properly organized can generate matter?
The Third Possibility, Jesus was a man and performed miracles, is far more interesting than the other two possibilities. What if, Jesus (and saints) had unwittingly tapped this unseen realm? Perhaps, with a bit of enhancement, we will also do the works that I am doing.
